About Us

Holy Cross Church is located in Woodchurch, Wirral and is part of the Deanery of Birkenhead within the Diocese of Chester.  A 'Who's Who?' list of contacts at the Church can be found here.

We have a growing, thriving and welcoming Church, with a hardworking congregation and supportive, lively community around us.  Services are on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings and Sunday mornings, details of which can be found here.  The Church and Parish Community Hall also support a host of diverse range of other regular events and groups such as Mother's Union, Morning Prayer, Messy Church, Women's Institute, Craft Club and many more.  Details of all groups and events can be found here.

Outside our normal service times, the Church is open for visitors from 11am to 12 noon on Wednesdays, and from 9.30am to 11am on the first Saturday of the month.  The Church can also be opened by prior arrangement and should be arranged through the Parish Office (Sue - 0151 677 5352). - CURRENTLY, THE OPEN CHURCH ON WEDNESDAYS IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

The Church is located in a rural part of Woodchurch and is therefore much photographed and very popular for weddings.  On our Gallery pages you can many photographs of the church and its surroundings.  The Church is Grade II* listed and contains many historic monuments and items of interest.  Further history of the Church and its background can be found on the History page.

Worship at the Church ranges from the occasional traditional BCP (Book of Common Prayer) to more modern family services, Saturday Praise and Messy Church.  We seek to be welcoming to the many families that bring their children for baptism.  The Church caters well for young children and families and also has a pastoral ministry among the bereaved and lonely.

Everyone is welcome and received at Holy Cross Church.  We look forward to seeing you soon.
